After returning from America i haven't done as much art as i would like as job hunting has taken a front seat. Here are a few designs I have done for Abbey England :

Graduating and Degree show

Sorry for the lack of posting, with a degree show, deadlines and jetting off to america i haven't had the time to blog. That is now changing.

Update. I graduated. I now have a BA with Honours in Art and Design. I am now in America teaching art to children with autism, with a wide range of abilities.

Dissertation - How colour affects children with autism.

Narrative..

From working with screen printing, I've been looking at the narrative and lost and found objects as cutlery can often tell a story or brings back memories for people. Looking into book art i have been working with narrative text to produce cutlery with a narrative which i hope to introduce to my screen prints.

Screen printing

I have started screen printing, its looking good although I'm debating whether to start working on a larger scale. My work is about the quotidian object and the narrative behind the cutlery we have. Looking artists such as sigma polke who influences my work for the concept behind his own work. Martin parrs photography and displaying of work can be seen to influence my own work.

Blue print...

Working with cutlery teapots and cups and saucers i have been looking more at blue print china not liking working with black ink has encouraged me to look into other colours. Blue print china tells a story or a narrative which is what a collection or odd pieces of cutlery can do as well.

I am now collecting vintage tea sets ready to print on...bring it on. 

Photoshop & Drawing...

So I'm working on cutlery again, looking into collections but also still the quotidian object. Im looking more into how they are displayed in a museum and the different ways they are displayed. I am working on transferring my prints onto objects such as teapots and cutlery although I'm unsure as to how i will go about this. Most of prints have been done by mono printing so far although i have found it to be messy and not tonal at all however i do like the layering effect. So i have moved not o screen printing with a further intention of looking into photo etching with mono printing on top.

Well see how far this goes.....

Current Work

 Drawing, layers & texture

 Prints, using stencils, focusing on the image and space, moving on to the placing of the object

 Colour prints- surface and texture

 Exhibition pieces.

My current work is related to the quotidian object, focusing on artists such as Sigma Polke, Kiki Smith, Jim Dine and Martin Parr. Im looking at the everyday object, specifically at knives and forks, spoons and teapots all of which i find can differ depending on the person or occasion. My photography looks more into texture, colour and surface with some interesting effects which have helped to influence my prints.

My work

I am an artist. A painter, printer , mixed media and colour lover. Most of my work involves colour, although taking it away makes everything more interesting. This is a blog of my work with lots of different themes and some commissioned pieced as well.
